WINE
We are as passionate about wine as we are about food and service, and aim to offer an accessible list of truly interesting wines. We get as excited about a great-value house white, as we do a Grand Cru Bordeaux. Many of our wines are from producers we know well, and visit regularly.
Wines are eclectic, taking in well-known regions and producers alongside intriguing pours that you may seldom see on other lists - with many of these available by the glass. A short "Cellar List" of decadent bottles is available, and a "Special Pours" blackboard adorns the restaurant wall. Both encompass big-hitters you might be familiar with alongside examples from less well-known regions or producers. A link to our wine list is below. ‘Protero Aromatico’, Pannell, Adelaide Hills, Australia
When we stumbled across this Riesling / Gewurztraminer blend it was love at first sight (what a great label?)
They say you should never judge a book by its cover, but in this case the wine was every bit as good as its packaging. It is exotic, with powerful lychee and ginger. Engaging flavours of rose water and citrus precede a long, grassy finish.
This featured as a Special Pour a few times, before we added it to our by-the-glass offering permanently.
Tikves 'Barovo', Macedonia
This Macedonian red is intense and voluptuous with dark chocolate and generous toasty oak flavours.
Since being added to the list it has become a guest favourite, and the perfect accompaniment to our Pickwick Pie.
